How to Fly
Flight Lines
Castle Crash has three flight lines:
The Castle - A castle stands starkly in meadow, neighbored by scattered trees
The Village - Home to the Vendor Stalls, The Cage, the Mead Hall, The Blacksmith (repair benches), Archery Range, and Ye Ole Pisser
The Back Woods - A Run through the woods - Race Track in the forest
A Flight Line Manager is stationed at each flight line to help pilots maximize their time in the air and keep the whole operation running smoothly. If you need help, talk to a Flight Line Manager or other event staff.
Drone requirements
- All Pilots must be able to change their video channel and complete a failsafe check. Full power transmission allowed.
- All digital protocols must use 25Mbps or 10 MHz bandwidth modes, and must be using the FCC channel set (i.e. no CE mode).
- All analog craft must have Smart Audio Setup before the event. Here is a Joshua Bardwell video to show you how to setup Smart Audio.
- Pilots must check in with the Flight Line Manager before plugging in. The Flight Line Manager will give you a channel assignment.
- All Drones must be checked in with the Drone Master Prior to Events (see Lady FPV or Cptn Collin)
Channel Assignments
Castle Crash uses Race band and the equivalent DJI and Walksnail channels. Flight lines use alternating frequencies to minimize interference.
The Castle - ODD Channels: Race 1, Race 3, Race 5, Race 7
Village - EVEN Channels: Race 2, Race 4, Race 6*, Race 8
Back Woods - ODD Channels: Race 1, Race 3, Race 5, Race 7
*Note: Race 6 is the same as the DJI and Walksnail public channel. Do not use Race 6 channel unless there are no DJI or Walksnail pilots on the line.
DJI & Walksnail Channel Equivalents
DJI and Walksnail modify the Race band channel numbering scheme. Here is the equivalent chart:

When can I fly?
Check in with our Drone Master when you arrive to get your quads approved before you fly.
When you're ready to fly, please check in with a Flight Line Manager before you plug in to get your channel assignment. There's a board where you can claim your channel, and we'll be flying up to 4 pilots in the air at a time.
We will be closing and opening flight lines around the events of the day, so be sure you check in with the Flight Line Manager before you plug in. There is plenty of time for free flight!
